• 1921 to 1952 – Founding period (The beginning of a dream)

1921	The founder, Shiro Sugimoto, opened Shiro Sugimoto Shoten on his own in Oyodo-ku (now Kita-ku), Osaka, and started selling machine tools after completing his apprenticeship in a file shop.
1922	Changed name from Shiro Sugimoto Shoten to Asahi Shoten
1933	Established Japan Measuring Instrument Works Limited Partnership in Higashiyodogawa-ku (now Yodogawa-ku), Osaka, and started manufacturing micrometers
1936	Opened the Juso Branch in Juso-nishinomachi, Higashiyodogawa-ku (now Jusohonmachi, Yodogawa-ku), Osaka
1938	Established Asahi Shoten Co., Ltd. with 150,000 yen in capital and relocated the headquarters to the Juso Branch Opened the Nishinoda Branch
1939	Opened the Himejima Branch
1945	The headquarters, Nishinoda Branch, and Himejima Branch were destroyed in air raids. Resumed business at the site of the headquarters
1947	Established Hinode Kogu Co., Ltd. in Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka, as a subsidiary company that sold machine tools Established Nissoku Shokai Co., Ltd. in Minami-ku (now Chuo-ku), Osaka, to sell micrometers









• 1951 to 1970 – Aiming for national domination

1953	Merged three companies, Asahi Shoten Co., Ltd., Hinode Kogu Co., Ltd., and Nissoku Shokai Co., Ltd., and changed the name to SUGIMOTO & CO., LTD. Increased our capitalization to 3 million yen Opened the Juso Office, Hinode Office, and Nissoku Office Opened the Tokyo Office in Ota-ku, Tokyo, for wholesale of measuring instruments in the Kanto region
1954	Opened the Amagasaki Office for direct sales (now Sugimoto Co., Ltd.)
1957	Opened the Hirano Office for direct sales Opened the Nagoya Office in Naka-ku, Nagoya, for wholesale of measuring instruments in the Chubu region Purchased land and built company employee housing in Hattori, Toyonaka
1959	Constructed a new headquarters building (Jusohonmachi, Yodogawa-ku) Increased our capitalization to 14 million yen Relocated the Nissoku Office to a new building constructed in Itachibori, Nishi-ku

1978	Mr. Tadashi Sugimoto became president Opened the Nagoya Branch Opened the Nagoya Sales Department for bulk wholesale in the Chubu region
1979	Opened the Hamamatsu Office
1980	Opened the Higashiosaka Office Constructed new company employee housing in Narumi, Nagoya
1981	60th anniversary
1982	Opened the Nagano Office and Okazaki Office Integrated the Chugoku Office into the Hiroshima Office
1984	The founder, Shiro Sugimoto, passed away. Opened the Niigata Office
1985	Opened the Tohoku Office. Our bases covered the major cities in Japan. Established an employee shareholding association

• 1990 to 2010 – Becoming a Trusted Company (Stock Listing)
